Form-fitting with no sagging fabric.
Solid color with simple design; no pattern.
Though colors are most engaging, black or grey is an ideal neutral when in doubt.
Rule of thumb for best colors for your skin tone:
-Darker colors for light skin
-Lighter colors for dark skin
Distracting pattern, embellished.
Distracting pattern, multiple varying fabrics.
Solid whites are generally not advised, as they can create clipping and empty color space in photos.
Bagginess that immerses the full body; form-fitting tops are generally advised.
Large adornment, too formal; simple casual is best.
Shimmery fabrics can cause glares and create a distracting portrait.
Avoid clothing with any kind of graphic, text, or prints.
Suits & ties are not recommended as they are too formal for a standard acting headshot and give a corporate impression.
No large earrings or necklaces. No jewelry is best advised for headshots, but simple loops and fine chains are permissible.
